HELP & FAQ

Everything you need to know

Ordering, delivery, pickup and the answers to questions we hear most

ORDERING

How do I place an order?

Order online through our website. Chin chin can be bought directly with checkout. For meat pies and custom cakes, use our order request form and we'll confirm availability, pricing and timing. For events or wholesale, head to the relevant page and send an enquiry

How fresh are your products?

Very. We bake a fresh batch of meat pies every two weeks, so stock moves quickly and never sits around. Our chin chin is made in small, regular batches too — though it tends to disappear pretty fast once it's open.

How much notice do you need?

We need 1 weeks notice for meat pie orders and 2 weeks for custom cakes. Chin chin is usually available at shorter notice. For events, the earlier the better — we recommend at least 4 weeks for catering.

DELIVERY & PICKUP

Do you deliver?

Yes. For local orders we deliver via Uber, charged at cost — the exact fare, quoted before we send, with no markup from us.

Can I pick up my order?

Yes. Pickup is available from Seville Grove at an arranged time, confirmed when you order. The address is included on your invoice or quote.

Do you post orders outside Perth?

Our chin chin is shelf-stable and can be posted Australia-wide — shipping is calculated at checkout based on your location. Meat pies and cakes are local only (pickup or Uber delivery), as they need cold-chain handling and lead time.

How should I store and reheat the pies?

Our meat pies are supplied frozen and keep for up to 12 months at or below −18°C. To reheat from frozen:

  • Oven (best result): bake from frozen for about 13 minutes at 180°C (160°C fan-forced), or 8 minutes if defrosted.

  • Air fryer: also great — around 15 minutes at 180°C from frozen.

  • Microwave (quickest): place on a piece of paper towel and heat 1 minute each side (2 minutes total) from frozen.

The microwave is fastest, but the oven or air fryer keeps the pastry crispest. Once thawed, don't refreeze.

PRODUCTS

Are your meat pies really handmade?

Yes. Every meat pie is made by hand in small batches using a family recipe. Our chin chin is made to the same traditional recipe for consistent quality batch to batch.

What's in them — do you cater for dietary needs?

Our chin chin contains flour, sugar, butter, full cream milk, eggs, canola oil, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. Our meat pies contain gluten, milk and egg. Full ingredient and nutrition information is on every pack.

Contains: Gluten, Milk, Egg (both products).

We're not halal certified, but for event and catering orders we can prepare meat pies using halal meat on request. Just let us know when you enquire. For events, we're happy to discuss other dietary requirements too.

How long does chin chin stay fresh?

Chin chin has a shelf life of up to 12 months, kept sealed in its original packaging or an airtight container — though in our experience it rarely lasts that long. It comes in 100g and 500g packs

WHOLESALE & EVENTS

Can my store stock Shy Bakers?

We'd love that. Visit our wholesale page and send an enquiry — we'll arrange tasting samples and share wholesale pricing. Meat pies come frozen in boxes of 50 (10 packs of 5); chin chin in boxes of 50 (100g) or 10 (500g), minimum one box. Frozen pies carry a 12-month shelf life, so they're low-risk to stock.

Do you cater events?

Yes, from office drop-offs to full celebrations. Visit our events page to see our three packages and request a tailored quote.

Do you charge extra for weekend events?

Our package prices cover weekday and Saturday events. Sunday and public holiday events attract a small surcharge to cover higher staffing costs, confirmed in your quote.
